I....Will keep my Sh*t together....I will

When I open my eyes Thursday morning and wake a grumpy little girl earlier than she's used to, dress her, put cute little piggy tails in her hair...I...Will keep my sh*t together...I will.

When I cut the crusts off her tiny little turkey sandwich, sneak a Smore's Granola bar, veggies, and a Juice Box....I...Will keep my sh*t together...I will.

When I start the car, pull out...stop the car, strap the kid IN her seat...I will keep my sh*t together...I will.

When we walk through her PRESCHOOL doors for the first time (actually second if you count the tour), with her hand in mine, and make our way to her classroom...I will keep my sh*t together...I will.

When I kiss her goodbye, and get cut off in my plea for love and adoration that I am the most wonderful mom ever when she excitedly sees her Teachers Aunty Awesome & Aunty Amazing...I will keep my sh*t together...I will.

When I walk back into the hallway and see the other parents...I will smile...do the parent nod...and pretend...my lip may quiver...BUT I will keep my sh*t together...I will.

When the owner sees me at the entrance doors and says everything will be ok....I will keep my sh*t together...I will.

I may for a moment actually think I will stay in the parking lot until she is done 8 hours later...I will keep my sh*t together...I will.

When sanity takes over, I will drive home, wave to the neighbors, walk proudly up the stairs without her tagging along, I will unlock the door, plop on the couch, look around to the quiet and empty house...

....Wait, did I just write QUIET & EMPTY?

:Cricket Noise & Tumbleweeds:

My baby is in preschool...and her mommy has the whole house to herself!

It's bittersweet, isn't it? Did you say preschool lasts 8 hours?? It will fly by no matter how long it is. Take advantage of your alone time, but the first day make it all about you!

Enjoy your time off, my friend! I think you'll adjust quickly... and don't let those 'guilties' set in. You deserve some time off! And she's getting some quality social time, so all's good! : )

It takes some getting use to. I was always more upset than the kids. You'll figure it out soon enough and have no trouble finding something to do.

Free time!

I'm jealous.

I mean, I'll be upset when Natalie starts school. The whole "my last baby is growing up" thing. But then I'll be all, "I can read. In peace. I can write. In peace. I can finally catch up on my DVRed shows. IN PEACE!"

Big Hugs from far away! Thursday will be great, you'll see. And as for keeping your sh*t together, well I tried that when I dropped my boy off for the first time and lasted all of about ten seconds, I was crying walking to my truck and you know what every mom I saw understood and tossed me a knowing smile. So let it out if you want too, and screw what anyone else thinks..lol! Love you!!!

NICE!! I love it! Sometimes I wonder if I will EVER have a quiet moment...maybe not for a long time...and maybe when it comes...I might miss the noise...maybe...

Oh, baby steps! Before you know it, the kiddos will be off to college, and that's a scary proposition. SITS sent me by, and I'm glad they did...

Even if you didn't keep it together, that's okay, too.
This is one of those days that you cherish. A beautiful memory in the making.

Yeah, it only takes a few days to get adjusted and then you start crying when preschool is home and you no longer have free time.

With her at school, you can now get your $hit together ;) - you will love it.

Oh, this is tough. But, you will make it!

Oh, how I can relate!! I had a baby 12 years after the last one----so when my youngest daughter graduated from high school, my youngest son was starting Kindergarten....

Now THAT is a day that I will NEVER forget!!

It's okay NOT to keep your "Stuff" together, some of us cry for no reason at all and you certainly had a reason to shed at least a tear or two. No one would blame you. Heck they'd pretty much love you for it 'cuz a mama so sad to part with her little girl is adorable.

Now on the other hand if you had yelled "So long Sucka!" and ran out like a bat out of you know where well....that might not have gone over so well.

Something to consider as you get used to the idea of your baby being in Preschool.

P.S. Thanks for stopping by (again) for my SITS day today!

I put my daughter in part time pre-school when she was 2 and 1/2. It was called "mom's time out," and it was three mornings a week for four hours. Tht first day, I went down to the beach with a magazine and even took a nap. I remember what a relief it was to not be a guard for a near drowning.

I'm just catching up. I hope you had a mostly tear-free day. If not, don't worry... you've got at least a few more years to work on it. Kindergarten is a doozy, but so is first grade (what?!? my baby's gonna play on the BIG KIDS' playground? NOOO!). The good news is we survive them all.

And happy finding what you like to do now!
