Yes. I've been a little MIA...a little bloggy funk feeling.
I started a couple pathetic attempts but didn't "feel it". I was reading Nicole over at A Mommy's Musing, nodding the whole time while munching popcorn and M&M's and realized she said it best...in fact I was convinced I was gonna just linky love her post and just have these words for my next entry... GO HERE FOR my POST :)
But I knew what I wanted to write tonight...thank goodness...it flowed and it felt right to write (hahahahahaha)...sigh...still a little pathetic left in my big toe. Sorry.

As we all clear out our closets to make room for new items, that get put away for "another time". You find yourself with old items that need a new place.
Anywhere but in YOUR home.
You know those things...(maybe not Shorty cause she's wow wow organized!)
...like the skinny pants you swear you'll fit one day (or hey Lyndsay...even those short pants your hubby created!)
...your old favorite sweater (pre-baby...if it only went below my belly, I could wear it again)
...those shoes (they WILL come back, like the disco shoes with the fish swimming..not mine, I swear, I'm only 33)
...OR maybe some BLANKETS that have NOT been used for a very LONG time.
There's a point to all this.
And it's a good one.
I promise.
My sister, FLS, has a heart that I envy! One that doesn't judge so harshly, one that is more sensitive and patient, that stops and appreciates what she has and NOT what she doesn't have. It stops for what others do NOT have but need and how she can change that for them.
She's always been that way.
I've always watched from afar, with admiration and secret longing to have that special quality she has.
But it's OK.
God blessed me with having a sister like her and I'm lucky. I don't realize it sometimes but when I do, I can't help but let MY heart be so so so proud of her and who she is.
With that I want to make sure I lend her any kind of support I can....and hopefully some of yours. (shyly asking of you, head looking at ground, kicking the dirt hoping for a yes)
(Thanks Mrs. Bush for already contributing, you awesome lady you!)
And it's soooo simple...(well, maybe a itty bitty cleaning on your part)
Purge your closet of unwanted blankies or "something else", take a quick photo, send me or her a copy of that pic and donate to a charity/homeless shelter near you, the next time your driving by.
She's doing a raffle of all who donate and you could win a gift certificate to a pretty cool restaurant! They have enough of them around I'm sure someone you know if not you could use it. Take your honey or BFF out for a drink. (Girls night RULE!)
Or just do it, because it's a "good deed to start off the year"!
So my bloggy pals...can we do it? Can you find a blanket or "something else" to help someone less fortunate stay warm or "something else"?

12 ramblings of your own:
Thanks for the Linky Love! ;)
Thank you so much for this post. And....You do make huge differences. You are the Queen of Everything and you inspire me everyday. The grass is truly greener on the other lawn, because as you stared at me from afar in awe, I could not help but stare back at you. We sometimes do not notice our own deeds, but the deeds of others. You only will recognize in others what is in yourself. The blood that flows through me is also in you and we are a proud brood.....you are fantastic and giving and sensitive and sweet and funny and you have always been there to pick me up(even though you sometimes pushed me to the floor...jk...) and helped to guide me as much as our own mom to where I am now. I love you and thank you for helping me reach my very important goal. LoveLoveLoveLoveLoveLoveLoveLoveLove

defined: I actually through this one in the google search bar. It turns out it is very close to the spanish word La Tertulia which is a gathering of people to share, learn, and exchange.....usually in a coffee shop or cafe.
Okay so its not funny, more of a lesson than a game, but interesting.
Yay! Thanks for the linky love! I'd really love to share my picture, but my LOADS (and I mean LOADS) of goods were already delivered to the local shelter as part of my efforts to clean-up at the start of the New Year. You are just going to have to trust me on this one, LOL!
Your blog is great! Stopping over from I used to be witty.
Oh definitely I need to clean out the closet and make some new space.. And I love the idea to pass on your old clothes to others who need them.
I have a friend here that she always takes my girls' old clothes to give them to her co-workers who is a single mother and raising two little girls. It always makes me feel good inside that my girls' clothes find new home that will cherish them..
You and your FLS both have hearts as big as the Hawaiian sky. (Your list of stuff to give away totally made me smile, thank you!)
I'm totally on the case.. just need to take the picture :)
I love your posts and miss you when you're gone, my friend! Thank you for linking to me...you're always so sweet and thoughtful. You're a great inspiration to some of my posts, but I think you know that already...at least I hope you do.
Love the good deed idea...does just cleaning out my closet and donating to the local mission count??? I would love to donate a quilt I've got in work (you may remember I posted about it awhile back), but I know (because I know me so well) that I won't finish it before the cold weather goes away. I'll keep digging for another blankie donation.
Keep those beautiful posts coming, my BBFF!!!!! I love em!
I have to make another run soon b/c I find myself losing more space as Ted seems to creep further in :) I've donated all of my personal belongings to Goodwill or the Salvation Army.
Hey All - just wanted to add another *option* for your stuff.
Yahoo has a group called "freecycle". Or maybe "freecycle" has yahoo groups?
IDK - ANYWAYS....
You offer what you have and people contact you that need it. I have found families who have nothing after a fire that desperately NEED that old couch in my basement.
People give away unwanted coupons for baby food/diapers/formula - to tickets they can't use.
Each area has it's own group - and some metro areas have several groups.
Lately - the goodwills and thrift stores are quite picky about what they will or won't take. This is a way to get your *stuff* to people who don't care if the computer monitor is pre-flatscreen.
Of course - use your good common sense - I always meet people in the blockbuster parking lot to do the exchange, or I make sure that I have one or two of the men in my life at home with me for the larger items. We usually have it waiting in the garage so that there is no need for them to come into the house.
Whew....sorry for the long post Ramblin' lady....
Can I send you a picture of the garage sale stuff we had for Roo? We were taking donations to help pay for his school. Everything that didn't sell, I donated. There was so much they sent a big truck.
I gave it all away!already....
Have you noticed his blog? http://caringforcole.blogspot.com/
oh...and come get your award over in OK!! ;) I'm glad you're back! Missed you! Gah...now you're making me get all sappy! You should know that's not the way we 'deal'....
This is a great idea! We *just* took a big load of items to be donated (we always do a thorough clean-out right after Christmas) and of course I have no photos of any of it. Drat.
Sure feels great to pass those items along, though...
Hope all is well with you and take care...
XO
Anna
